(In)Complete – Kokok P. Sancoko

Solo Exhibition at Biasa Artspece Bali

I First Met Kokok Two And Half Years Ago During A Visit To Yogyakarta To Select Artists For “open View”, The First Group Exhibition Held In The Newly Open BIASA Artspace.

I Was Captured By His World Zoomed On Flowers And Vegetables, An Unusual Subject In The Contemporary Art Scene, Realistically Painted But In An Uncompleted Way With Part Of The Canvas Remaining White.

Talking With Kokok I Got The Impression Of A Very Humble Character, Really Dedicated 100% To His Work Without Any Pretension But To “ Control The Image “ Of His Painting. And In Doing So Kokok Took So Much Time To Make An Artwork That It Looks Like He’s Feeding The Canvas With Bright To Transparent Layers Of Colours, Slowly – Slowly, One Piece At The Time, The Same Way He’s Watering Flower Pots On The Bamboo Racks Arranged Outside His House Everyday.

Since We Met, We Worked Together On Different Projects For Biasa Art Space And I Was Able To See Kokok’s Ideas Evolving, His Approach To The Reality In His Paintings Changing And Going Deeper And Deeper, Peeling The Layers Of The Real To Reach A New Level Of Understanding.

Finally I Decided That Was Time To Present Kokok Concept In A Whole And I’m Proud Today To Host His First Solo Exhibition.

I Wish Kokok With All The Best And Love.

THIS EXHIBITION IS OPEN TO VISITORS FROM
