This show includes pieces that are part of the collection of the gallery, and exists simply from the desire to present the works of Indonesian artists whom I met during my recent visits to Jogjakarta. Such meetings have contributed to deepen my interest in contemporary Indonesian art.
Within an international context, BIASA ArtSpace wishes to provide a venue for the presentation of Indonesian art where it will be possible to stimulate a debate and an understanding of the idea of cross-cultural aesthetics.
This is the third episode presented at BIASA ArtSpace that marks the beginning of an exploration into the relationship between the relativity of regional culture and universalism. Ultimately, through this journey I wish to pursue the discovery of an imaginary space between two opposites…the third force that catalyses the interaction and partnership of two elements.
I suspect that Indonesian Visual Art expresses concepts about this force
