‘Portable’ sees a selected group of contemporary visual artists share their small yet significant stories. The work is a creative response to popular beliefs and social values that often have no personal or cultural relevance yet shape our everyday lives. The exhibition aims to focus on the smaller things that often go unnoticed but hold an integral part in defining personal and cultural identity. The expected outcome is a thoughtful body of work which communicates to those who take time to approach, observe and discover. The exhibition also considers the permanency and weight of artwork that is portable in nature
Curated within a suggestive framework representing a ‘home’ with various compartmentalized rooms, each artist’s work will be exhibited in a dedicated and intimate space, where the viewer is guided through and encouraged to experience each individual space as if cautiously entering a strangers living space.
Work from nine Indonesian and International artists will be showcased during the exhibition:
Angki Purbandono
Arya pandjalu
Ines Katamso
Kokok Sancoko
Lisa Roet
Maurizio Vetrugno
Spencer Hansen
S. Teddy
Ugo Untoro
‘Portable’ will also mark the launch of a new gallery space for BIASA ArtSpace located on Level 1 of the newly opened BIASA+. The area is an intimate and friendly space, allowing visitors to view and take in exhibited art in a light and calming setting. The reveal of this new area is part of the continuous development of BIASA+ to promote art, fashion and lifestyle.
‘Portable’ will run from November 13th to December 31st 2014
